Vaughan Homestead

The Vaughan Homestead represents a typical farmhouse of early New Zealand. Set in the beautiful grounds of Long Bay Regional Park, George Vaughan and his descendants made the homestead their home for approximately 100 years.

The homestead is a rare example of a wooden farmhouse from early New Zealand life. Situated near Torbay, on Auckland's North Shore, the homestead families farmed approximately 1200 acres of land, including what is now the Long Bay Regional Park. A number of enhancements have been made to the original building throughout the time it served as a home.

Today, there is a small museum that recounts the life of the families who lived and worked the land. Vaughan Homestead is open to the public at specified times and occasionally on request.

A modest donation is requested.

Vaughan Homestead is administered by Auckland Council. It can be hired for small functions and you can also have gazebos in certain areas of the park. To enquire about holding an event, we recommend speaking to the council directly on 09 301 0101.
